As winter creeps up on us, so do flu and respiratory illnesses.

It can be hard to know when you need to get vaccinated to keep yourself safe, with recent announcements about vaccine availability and who should get them. And sometimes it’s even more difficult figuring out where to get vaccinated.

Here are resources to help you determine which vaccinations you’re eligible for and when.

What vaccine do I need to get?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has guides for vaccinations to help you understand what routine vaccine is needed at what time. One is for children and adolescents 18 years old and younger, and one is for adults 19 years old and above.

Each guide also includes the frequency of each vaccine and timeline for follow-up vaccinations if applicable.

Now that the time of year is here when many people are getting sick, it’s worth checking out the guidance for your age group when it comes to the flu, respiratory syncytial virus, pneumonia and COVID-19.

Where to get vaccinated in Delaware

Each clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Vaccinations are available by appointment and walk-in, though walk-in availability may vary by site. Residents with insurance may be charged a co-pay at the time of services, depending on their coverage.

DPH also notes that measles and pertussis are other vaccine-preventable diseases that remain active threats. Vaccines for these diseases, along with a range of other preventive and wellness services, can be found at DPH clinics.

If you are still struggling to find availability, many vaccinations are also available at doctor’s offices and pharmacies.
